J.Julian Guitars was founded in 2015 with a mission of always striving for excellence in workmanship while working to build a reputation for quality. All electric guitars are hand made in Maryland using the finest natural materials and hardware, with the goal of providing top quality, functional guitars for the working musician.
Builder’s Story
I discovered the guitar at the impressionable age of 13, and what an impression it made. My teenage years were spent learning everything I could by Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Nuno Bettencourt. In between hours of wood shedding I became an obsessed guitar buyer & trader, and began tinkering with and customizing them to see what made them tick.
For many years prior to my rock and roll knock over the head, my grandfather made a living as a cabinet & furniture maker – woodworking was in my blood, I just hadn’t yet realized it. Although I unfortunately missed out on learning from my grandfather first hand while he was alive, my father taught me how to be handy and to build & fix things, laying the groundwork for becoming a craftsman.
Fast forward to 2015 and my second knock over the head – the realization that the only thing rivaling my love for guitar was the joy of making them. I plunged headlong, once again, into learning and developing my skills as a woodworker, marrying them with the tinkerer in me that had been taking guitars apart for years and the obsessed guitar player fascinated with the tones natural wood provides before a guitar is ever plugged in.
More than 6 years later, and hopefully for many to come, I continue to learn, grow, and apply everything I know about the guitar and woodworking to create the best playing, sounding and looking guitars I can.
